The thyme on your grave is long gone Eight journeys around our sun The world has grown darker, I'm glad you're not here For all that you fought for will soon disappear Moon and rain and sun on your grave History's brought on a sinister wave With all that you tried to eradicate All that you loathed and you used to hate Our once private fog-clad mountains that were Our refuge of pine groves and ivy and fir Turned into a circus, drowning in crowds The world has invaded our home in the clouds Retreat into burrows and oak woods and holes Where owls in the night watch over our souls Will shelter us from the darkness to come As we hide in the dark with our skin gone numb Thirty-two thousand fireflies Synapses spark in the dark The forest is breathing, the ground underneath Lives with us, without us - the world one mind

Climate, it ain't changing, NASA's feedin' us lies Them Muslims will outnumber us soon, there's chemtrails in the sky The Amish don't get cancer, vaccines will harm my child Homeopathy is the one true path, and the holocaust is a scam I've read it in my Timeline, and it's plain to read for all I've read it there and it's all true, cause it's written on the wall Now you tell me that it ain't right, you tell me to look up the facts Except I ain't got time, don't trust your face, so… Don't make me think, please don't make me think Just don't make me think, do not make me think Now don't make me think, you can't make me think You won't make me think, please don't make me think Just don't think, trust in me! Lay down your burden, and rest your weary mind No need to think now – you'll be among your kind The truth weighs 140 written signs Anything they tell you is fake between the lines The truth lies within you 'cause we say it's so No facts to check now 'cause our belief is true Lay down your burden, and rest your weary mind No need to think now 'cause our belief is true 'Cause our belief is… Let's gather the firewood, and light up the books The end of pluralities, let's burn all the crooks We'll defeat all our enemies, and our homelands be free A bonfire of vanities – a true Christmas tree Come aboard you'll be here safe with us, our friends Come aboard you'll be here safe with us, our friends Let's get all the firewood C'ést pas ma terre, c'ést pas ta terre And light up their books Je suis l'êtranger, tu es l'êtranger Bonfire of vanities C'ést pas ma terre, c'ést pas ta terre Transsexuals, homosexuals, intellectuals, you Jezebels: be… …gone Lay down your burden, rest your weary mind [Exit the whole fascist mob, marching off to drown in the sea, who knows…]

You think the Nazis have won As the sky bleeds fire As their dark deed is done And you stare into the pyre? Will you pack up and run When their dark wave rises? Or will you pick up a gun When freedom demises?

‘Our resentment takes on shape The shape turns into thought The thought becomes one word The word turns into mantra The mantra into speech Speech turns into deed’ ‘Rise up and let's do it – come let us turn the tide Rise up and let's do it – let us skin their hide’ It seeps up through the floor Billows in through the door Fills our rooms with putrid smoke The Nazis are back home ‘Our thoughts shift into place On religion, colour and race Roll on the track they've laid’ – The fascists in your home ‘Our homeland is sacred to us We hunt down aliens on trains and on the bus Haul them into deportation camps’ – The Nazis are back home The dark brew fosters genocide Anti-government white pride ‘Take the Muslims down Take the Jews out of town All the blacks, all the gays, all is straight, all is white’

Melas Chasma 05:16
The sun rises white In the dust-blue sky As a new day dawns Red soil on our hands White clouds up above As we tap into the ground We tap into the ground New lands wait out ahead As our children, tall and pale Roam from lake to lake Spread from lake to lake Sprung from the air Earth's a tiny speck Rising over the horizon As Phobos climbs the sky From the rivers deep in valleys To the peaks of Mt. Olympus Mars is our new home From Melas Chasma rises Earth Memorial spire Repository of memories Tricentennial choir Hear Syrtis Major Planum call With gravity anomaly Jezero crater our landfall Beneath la Mer du Sablier Let’s count our blessings Let us breathe in the day – under Distant earthlight Distant earthlight Let’s count our blessings Let us breathe in the day – under Distant earthlight Distant earthlight Distant Blessed be the Ancients And the world that they have made For their children deep in time And our future out… …ahead

Music for Concerned Citizens with a Natural Instinct for Science

Arranged and mixed by Daymoon, except Pardon the Turkey, The Pyre and Melas Chasma, which were mixed by Vince Welch. Album mastered by Vince Welch.

The danger with a politically-tainted album is that it might become outdated quickly. In the case of this album, actually I hope it will become outdated soon. Alas, the world is quickly rolling its belly over to its darker and less charitable side.

But to begin with, the band wants to thank you from the bottom of the heart for you being charitable supporting non-commercial music, even if only by giving some of your time to it. You are a hero!

And now about EROSION:

EROSION starts off with the last track to have been written, The Forest Within Us, which in its turn picks up where the tune Thyme from our 2016 album Cruz Quebrada left off. That thyme, which my daughter and I planted on my first wife Inês’s grave back in early 2012, has long wilted away. Inês was a passionate socialist, antifascist, environmentalist, feminist, and she loved our little home town in the mountains by the sea. And anyone who knew her knows that she would have grown bitter in this new world: less than a year after her death and right up to the pandemic, our home town Sintra buckled under crushing waves of mass tourism, with all the noise and mess and cultural defacing and defecation that come with it. Fascists and populists like Trump, Salvigni, Putin and the lot have turned the world-clock back by 70 years. Dark-age beliefs and mental blindness are spreading like wildfire. Our planetary climate is becoming increasingly instable. Mass migration is changing the map and societies, and hatred and racism have become socially acceptable, while young women in Western societies are willingly forfeiting their status and rights. Humanity and Earth with it are eroding fast.

But if you have been following our albums, you will of course know that I have remote hopes for a better future and the dream that Mankind will get through all of this reasonably unscathed and continue to evolve inward, upward and outward. The album has a track about this too. Go fetch.

Musically, EROSION represents untrodden ground for Daymoon – for the first time, many parts of the album were not written by me, and re-, pro- or transgressive rock is no core concern any longer. The album features not only the plainest of music, but also tracks with extensive soundscapes that took us literally years to imagine, create and assemble. And as always of course, consistency was not important to us, and so inevitably, if you enjoy half of the album, you will probably dislike the other half. If you like all of it, you are Fred Lessing. So go and enjoy whatever you can.
